A very familiar sight near our ponds and lakes, the Moorhens are more often spotted on land than in the water. As can be seen on this image they have a dark-brown back and wings and a black belly.
Wood pigeons are seen more and more in cities. Very shy, they can often be found in groups "grazing" in gardens and lawns.
