The recent history of the familiar creamy Collared Dove is one of a very successful migration. Originally from the Middle East (its Duch name "Turkse tortel" still refers to that), the bird only arrived in Western Europe in the 1940-50s from the Balkans, but can now be found in all Europe, with the exception of Iceland. In the 1970s they were introduced to the Bahamas and have subsequently been colonizing most of North America.

The Reed warbler is a spring and summer guest in Europe, and spends the winter in Africa., south of the Sahara.
