Bison in Yellowstone

There is no way to miss bison in Yellowstone. Estimated at 4,900 in July 2014, the bison herd of Yellowstone is the only one in the USA dating back to prehistoric times. Bulls weigh up to 900 kgs, cows up to 450 kgs. Once more numerous than all humans on the Northern American continent, bison were slaughtered to the brink of extinction in the 19th century. Count your blessings you can still see these wonderful animals roaming in the wild.

Pronghorn

Indigenous to North America, the pronghorn (Antilocapra americana) is the only survivor of the antilocaprid species (so not a true antilope) from the Pleistocene era. Evolved to outrun now extinct predators, the pronghorn remains the fastest land mammal in the world after the cheetah, attaining speeds of more than 80 kms per hour.
