A quiet evening at the Geroldsee

The Geroldsee, with the backdrop of the Wetterstein and Karwendel Mountains, is one of the must-see spots in the Bavarian Alps. The lake is a favorite sunbathing spot in the summer, although this time of the year it was a bit chilly.

Abendrot

Maybe not quite as red as how composer Richard Strauss imagined it in one of his Four Last Songs (Abendrot/Vier Letzte Lieder), but you understand where he got his inspiration from. No surprise that Strauss lived and worked in nearby Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where he also died in 1949.
